Ali Wazir Former Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:
Following her release on bail by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) earlier on Monday, human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari was once again apprehended by the Islamabad police outside the Adiala jail.

Announcing the development on the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter), the Islamabad police verified Imaan's detention. They conveyed that the lawyer's arrest was made in connection with a first information report (FIR) filed at the Bara Kahu police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
Earlier today, Ali Wazir, the leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), and former lawmaker, along with Advocate Imaan, were granted bail by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad.

On August 19, two separate first information reports (FIRs) were filed against Imaan and Wazir at the Tarnol police station and the Counter-Terrorism Department police station, following a PTM rally in the capital city. Both individuals faced charges including sedition, obstruction of government officials' duties, and causing damage to public property.

Consequently, the two were placed under a 14-day judicial remand in connection with a sedition case linked to a contentious speech against state institutions.

Imaan Mazari had previously obtained bail in the second case – pertaining to the vandalism of government property and interference in state affairs during a protest held on August 18 – after her application was approved by a local judge.
